Point Lobos Adventure...

I would apologize for being such a sporadic blogger, but there's not a lot worth remarking about in my life sometimes. Day to day mundane events probably would bore. Also, I like to have pictures with my posts and I've taken enough pictures of the inside of my house.
But I do have a little something to post about today.
This last weekend, it finally got about 65 degrees out and it was actually sunny all day. Of course we decided to take full advantage of this rarity and decided to go hiking with a couple of friends of ours. Considering our last hiking trip was like two years ago, I was pretty excited. I was hell-bent on climbing a mountain!!
We decided to go to Point Lobos this time instead of Big Sur so we could enjoy the beaches. It was absolutely gorgeous. We could not have asked for a better day. We galavanted by the water and explored a historic whaling cabin. Our friends were hiking newbies and were more inclined with exploring by the water than with climbing mountains. So no mountain conquering for me. Oh well. We had such a good time. I don't know why we don't hike more often considering how many beautiful places there are to go in this state. I say this a month before we leave. Hmm...
Well, here are some pics. It was nice to actually pick up my camera again. It's been too long. :)

Happy Birthday To Me...

Yes, today is my birthday. I'm the big 22. It's hard to believe 21 is over. That's the number you live for your entire life before it. And now, it's passed. No more big deal birthdays. Only a few more years until I'm supposed to start denying my age, right?
For being such a big deal, 21 was nowhere near as exciting to ring in as 22 was. I expected so much from my 21st birthday. You know, the whole going out drinking with all of my friends, staying out until all hours of the night. The cliche'. Unfortunately, it didn't go like that. I thought maybe my husband would surprise me with flowers or something and we would drink mimosas, but he ended up having to work all day. So I spent the day by myself. We did go out to eat which was nice and I got to order my first legal drink. That was the highlight. At that point I had a total of 1 friend out here, but I would occasionally hang out with some of my husband's friends. He invited a few of them over to the house for a party, but no one showed saving my one friend and her husband. They came for about an hour and left. My birthday ended at like 10. It was really depressing.
This year was a million times better. We started hanging out with a new couple and a few of their friends last week. So we invited them over Friday to celebrate my bday. We ate, drank, played board games(we're awesome) until like 2am. It was the latest I had stayed up in I don't know how long. Saturday did not start well though. We were heading out for the day when our car decided to die on us. We had to get it towed, but sat in a parking lot for an hour waiting. Luckily, the same people we had hung out with the night before were nearby and kept us company. We finally got it fixed, but the afternoon was gone. Not having any plans for the rest of the day, we got invited out for the night. Then we asked everyone back for another game night which lasted until 4am. Somehow we woke up early enough yesterday to do our Sunday tradition of endless mimosas and the most amazing waffles ever at our favorite restaurant. And miraculously the group joined us there too. Then we all got together to "watch" the eclipse rounding out an amazing birthday weekend.
I know that this all sounds pretty ordinary, but for us it's not. We're a very anti-social couple. We enjoy spending time with each other. Somehow, though, we managed to find a group of people exactly like us. They like board games and staying in and hanging out. I thought they'd get sick of us this weekend but they kept coming along. While I'm sure I would have been just as happy spending my birthday with just Ty, it made it a little extra special to share it with new friends.
So, now after all of the eating and the drinking endlessly, I'm probably 10 pounds heavier, but no regrets. I think this was one of the best birthdays ever. :)
My 21st year was pretty uneventful overall. 22, however, is going to be drastically different. We're going to be separated for a few months and then we make the move across the country. Our lives are going to be very different 6 months from now. But I'm ready for a change. Mostly because we knew it was coming so we've been in limbo for over a year. It'll be nice to know that where we go next we'll be for awhile. We can really feel at home. I think I'm going to like 22. :)
And now some pictures...
Blue nails for my birthday!

I think I Need a Sunrise... Tired of the Sunset...

Life has been really uneventful lately. Everyday feels exactly the same... because it is. I work. I come home. I "clean". I sit. Repeat. My life. Everything's just become so mundane... I know it's my own fault. I could go out and do stuff, but I don't really have people to hang out with here... again my fault. And who wants to hang out alone? I can do that here. I've been working a lot less so I've been bored even more so than usual. I really need to find something to do with my life.
I'm not doing anything, really.
But, things are going to change soon. We found out we're 99% positive we're going to Maryland when we're done here. I am so excited! Especially because that means we're not going to Georgia. No offense Georgia, but I had no desire to live there. I've always wanted to go to the east coast (blame Gilmore Girls). It just looks so beautiful. And where we're going to be is right in the middle of a lot of history. I'm looking forward to a change. Something new. It's never felt permanent here because we always knew we were leaving. Although we didn't realize we'd be here this long. I love this place and we were really blessed to get the chance to live here. But it's time for the next stage I think. We're lucky we get to do this while we're young. Explore. Travel.
We've been talking about kids lately. I don't know if you can ever be ready for kids, but I just feel like I am. I can't wait to be a mom. I can't wait to see Ty as a dad. I know it'll mean a lot of sacrifices and life will never be the same. At times, that does make me hesitate. But the desire I have to be a mom outweighs all of that. We've discussed starting to try when we get to Maryland since we know we'll be there awhile. It's crazy to think that this time next year we could be expecting.. CRAZY. I just want to make sure we're ready. Both of us. I want to make sure Ty is ready. I don't want him to be pressured into anything, you know? So I'm trying to limit the baby talk. We'll know when we're ready.
That's really all there is to share for the moment. The present is uneventful, but the future is looking more and more exciting.
CANNOT wait to experience fall again...

I'm going to find this place and never leave.

Easter and Instagram type things...

Well, Easter came and went. Hard to believe. Harder to believe I didn't take any pictures that day. :/ We didn't do anything special I suppose anyway. We got up and watched the church service from back home on the tv while I consumed half my weight in the chocolate chip biscotti I made. I had Reese's eggs too which is my one absolute must on Easter (candy-wise). But seriously, I ate like 8 pieces of biscotti that day. We then decided to get dressed in our Easter best and go out for an Easter coffee at the only place that was open=Starbucks. That was pretty much the extent of our Easter. This holiday definitely  made me miss my little ones back home. It's not the same without little ones running around hunting for Easter treasures. You know? I can't wait to have little ones of our own to spend Easter with. I'm also looking forward to dressing them in uber adorable Easter outfits. Yes. I will be THAT mother. :)
Anywho.. Instagram finally became available for Android. FINALLY. Of course I got one. (chrissyswonderland) I don't know why. It's really not THAT cool. I mean, the filters are nice, but I have an app that have cooler ones. I guess it's just being on the bandwagon that's exciting. It's definitely made me get back into taking pictures. I'm just taking random pictures just to post them.. :/ I do acknowledge that vintage effects does not a photographer make...unlike some people. But who am I to say what defines a photographer? Isn't anyone who captures a moment a photographer? Or is it the skill and the composition that define one? Hmm... Deep questions.
Well, enjoy some of my Instagrams and feel free to follow!! :)

Spring is Officially Here...

Wow. I can't believe I haven't posted in so long. I just really have had nothing to remark on or share. Boring life sometimes. Anyways, today is the first day of April.. holy crap. Where does the time go? April always marks the beginning of spring for me. It's when things really start being...springy... It's hard to believe next week is Easter. Not that we're really planning on doing anything. We don't go to a church out here and since I really do not want to be one of those people who only go to church on Easter and Christmas, I think we're just going to watch a live feed from my church back home. I know it's not the same, but at least we're getting an Easter message. I plan on getting dressed up too for sure. I miss not being home for Easter. With four little kids, it's a lot of fun on that day. I miss not seeing my babies all dressed up, running around hunting for eggs like crazy. Oh well. We'll have to make do. I plan on eating a chocolate rabbit and having some of those delicious Reeses' eggs. (side note: Why are the eggs and pumpkins so much more amazing than just regular Reeses'??)
As I said, not much has been going on lately. I got "promoted"... sort of. Basically I have more responsibilities, have to get up at 4am... but I don't get paid more. Yay. Aside from the 4 am part, I am liking it though.
We did celebrate the last day of March in quite a festive fashion. We woke up at 10:30 and decided to go enjoy bottomless mimosas at a local restaurant.  SUCH a good idea. Only $12 for as many as we could drink before 3:00... and we got our money's worth! It was so much fun to be sipping mimosas in the middle of the day. Plus, I had the most DELICIOUS waffle EVER! Ugh. I cannot even tell you. (I have a severe love affair with breakfast food...) I did not enjoy, however, walking around the little mall area where the restaurant was incredibly tipsy. I sort of felt embarrassed since it was the middle of the afternoon and all... Oh well.
Usually for April Fool's Day, my husband and I will post some status on Facebook like we're engaged(before we were married) or we're pregnant. But we've been using the "we're pregnant" joke too much I think. Since we're actually planning to start trying for kids within the year, it probably would be a good idea to stop "crying wolf" so to speak. No one will believe us when we actually do get pregnant. So no joke this year.
Happy April everyone! :)
Happy St. Patrick's Day!

New shoes that I'm absolutely in love with.

Homemade chocolate chip biscotti.

Our mimosa day.
