365 Week 3... Aka Horrible Fail..

I'm doing horrible at keeping up with this. I usually end up taking like 5 in a day. I don't know why it's so difficult. But here they are at least.

Day 15- "Team Work"

My blender and I have become great friends. Smoothies have become a favorite healthy treat of mine. Of course I kill the poor thing with my frozen fruit... but I wouldn't have these delicious treats without it.

Day 16- "Don't Worry Be Happy"

I'm hard pressed to find anything that makes me happier than my big cup of coffee in "my" chair in a comfy sweater.

Day 17- "Oops"

"Wake me up in 20 minutes." 2 hours later... "Why didn't you wake me up??!"

Day 18- "Strong"

I've been doing P90X in an attempt to see how fit I can be.

Day 19- "Fire"

I love nights where it looks like the sun sets the sky on fire. (forgive the quality. I was in a car on the highway...)

Day 20-"Behind"

Day 21- "Bridge"

I don't know why, but we have a tendency to keep our alcohol bottles. Which makes us look like lushes whenever we have guests over. Oh well I guess.

365 Week Two...and Baby Dreams...

So I've been having baby dreams lately. I think it's the California "winter". My mind thinks it's Spring, aka bunny time. I guess. I think. Anyways, it's craziness. I know I want a baby, but my mind needs to back off! We have a plan dammit! Not now, thanks.
Anyways, here's week two of the 365 photo project I'm doing. I'm really sucking at doing them everyday. Grr.

Day 8- "Broken"

We went away and this bowl was fine. We came back and it was like this. I think Phoebe missed us.

Day 9- "Lines"

Day 10- "Fluffy"

Her collar gives her a mane...

Day 11- "Black"

A cold front came in this night. It was really windy and dark. Very Twister esque.

Day 12- "Bow"

Day 13- "Mug Shot"

This is me right out of bed, before coffee..

Day 14- "Dining"

I make a mean pizza.

Photo Project..

So, I've started a photography project I found through another blogger I follow. It's 365 days and there's a subject or prompt for each day. What I like about this one is that it's not just like "clouds" or "the sun". It requires you to be a little creative. I always start these sort of things and never finish. But I'm really trying with this one. I'll admit that sometimes I'll forget and end up doing two in one day. But, at least I'm doing it.. Without further ado, here's the first week of pictures:
Day1 - "Light"

Day 2- "Tall"

Day 3- "Switch"

I don't understand this switch. It's not connected to any kind of overhead light.. I swear it took us 6 months to realize that it turns on the outlet below it. I guess if you want to plug in a light there, that's cool...

Day 4- "Craft"

I am so proud of myself. Today was my husband's birthday and I made him a dinner and dessert he requested. I'm always hesitant to try new recipes, because I'm not an amazing cook, but both dishes turned out delicious!

Day 5- "Leftover"

I used to hate tupperware. Like, hate it. That probably sounds weird, but when putting away dishes, I would always have to fight to put the tupperware away. Either with finding matching tops or dealing with the tower of lazily put away plastic coming at me. Now, however, I love it. How marriage changes things.

Day 6- "Up"

Taking down the Christmas lights. Finally.

Day 7- "Clear"

I love that on a clear day we can see the ocean from our yard...

Chicago...

So, while on vacation, we went on a trip to Chicago. I have lived in Illinois all of my life, but I had never been. I was so excited to finally get the chance. I don't know what I was expecting, but I thought it was just going to be amazing and wonderful... not so much.
We took a 4 hour long train ride to get there (my first train ride too). I was expecting it to be absolutely freezing, but luckily it wasn't too bad. My mom who had been there a couple of times had a mission to get us to Michigan Avenue to see all of the shopping since we only had a few hours. It took forever to get there though. The crowd wasn't as bad as San Francisco, thankfully, due to it being a week day. Once we finally made it to Michigan Ave, we went into a few stores before we decided we were starving. After about a half hour of no one knowing what they wanted to eat or where to go, I mentioned The Cheesecake Factory. I had always wanted to go, so why not now? We made our way there of course during the crazy lunchtime. After waiting a good half hour, we finally go to a table. I ordered some peach drink that sounded good and fried mac n' cheese. *Can I just say, who the hell thought of that??!! It's AMAZING!!!* But I have a love affair with mac n' cheese. Therefore I got a fried mac n' cheese burger. This was my heaven. The drink I ordered was huge and delicious. I wanted to get cheesecake but I was stuffed. Definitely a successful lunch trip.
We randomly walked about the last few hours we had, all of us tired, and made it back to the train station where we had pre-ride beers. Once we got on the train, we all pretty much passed out the entire ride home.
Chicago wasn't horrible, but I wouldn't want to go there all of the time. Too many people, it takes to long to get anywhere, and I don't know how you figure out where to go. I am just drawing the conclusion I'm not a big city girl. No thank you.
Anyways, here's some pics from the trip.
Train coffee.

My drink at the Cheesecake Factory. I know.

The Big Christmas Post That I'm Like 2 Weeks Late On...

So... yeah. Christmas is way over.... But we just got home Monday. So there.
I hope everyone had a lovely holiday season. I certainly did. We went home for two weeks. We haven't been home in a year so we were definitely a little excited. We had to leave our Pheobe behind, but she was well taken care of.
We decided to fly home this year instead of taking the grueling 32+ hour drive there. While I was glad we weren't doing that again, I was nervous about flying considering it was my first time. But when the day actually came to fly, I wasn't as nervous as I thought. I was more worried about everything else that was going on. Getting to the airport on time, getting checked in, finding our gate, checking our luggage, going through security, continually checking that I had everything in my purse and didn't leave anything anywhere... My focus was therefore elsewhere. Until we actually got on the plane that is. Take off was the worst. I did not know what to expect. Luckily I had my husband with my to hold my hand through it. Once the initial, "Holy crap, holy crap, holy crap" stopped in my head, I was actually fine. I won't say I love flying, but after this trip, I'm a pro. It was actually kind of amazing to see the world from so high. We really are so small aren't we?
Once we landed back in the Midwest finally, we had no time to rest. It was go-time from the start. We were staying with my sister in-law for the night and she wanted to go out with us. So we did. And I was ready for bed at like 10. The next day the mom's came. It was so good to see them. Kind of surreal though. I knew I hadn't seen them in forever, but it felt like no time at all. Until I got to see my babies that is. Once I finally saw my niece and nephews I melted. They were so big and I hadn't even met my newest nephew. I miss home sometimes, but every time I think about them my heartbreaks to be away. It was so good to be with them and hold them again.
That first week was a whirlwind. We were nonstop. From driving back and forth between the parents' houses, to visiting his grandma 4 hours away, to going to Chicago... We didn't stop. I can't imagine how we managed to fit so much in a week but we did. Then Christmas came. I love having little ones around for Christmas. It gets boring with adults. No surprise or magic, ya know? So Christmas was very nice. I love having two families now to share it with. It makes it even more special. Definitely a marriage perk.
The next week was a lot mellower. We actually basically did absolutely nothing but sit on the couch and play words with friends... I know. We're lame. It was nice, though, to stop traveling and just be at peace.
Before we new it, it was our last day there. Goodbyes suck. And I have so many coming my way the next few years. I didn't get to say a real goodbye to the babies, which I'm actually kind of grateful for. I broke down enough over them without them there. I would have died. It's easier to know that it's not going to be as long between visits this time.
We spent New Year's Eve back with his sister and decided to go out despite our flight being at 7 a.m. the next day. Bad decision. But it was an awesome night. I have never gone out for New Year's and I am finally 21 so I was excited. We went to this restaurant first for cocktails and then headed to this bar where a bunch of bands were playing. The fact that there was no cover was the draw. The bands were amazing. There were lots of drinks and dancing and just overall a good time. When the clock struck twelve, I got to kiss the love of my life. That will always be my favorite part. Unfortunately about 15 minutes later I fell off of a barstool when my heels got stuck trying to get up. That pretty much ended the night for me. 3 hours of sleep later, we were up and on the plane back west.
It's nice to be home but I definitely enjoyed vacation. Having no responsibilities, seeing my family, having fun... It will be missed. But now it's back to real life. Work, cleaning, and bills... blah.
Here's some random shots from my time back home. Enjoy. :)
